Handmade Heavy Leather Satchel/Bag
This bag/satchel/crossbody bag or whatever you wish to call it is made from 8-9 oz. vegetable tan leather. This leather is thick and with proper care will last a lifetime. The main body of the bag has been left a natural color while the body straps and the shoulder strap has been dyed a Dark Brown. The stitching is all done by hand with white 1.0 tiger thread. The ends are made by using a double gusset technique which adds rigidity to the bag. All hardware (buckle, swivel snaps, and D-rings) are all made from solid antique brass. The natural tan leather will, over time, develop its own patina.
To care for this bag all you will need is some good quality neatsfoot oil. Rub on the oil and let sit for a few minutes, then wipe off any excess. This should be done periodically to keep the leather from drying out. This will all depend on the use that this bag sees over time but should be done at least a couple of times a year if the bag is not used to keep the leather healthy.
