NYUK Bowie Themed Blade with Australian Quilted Gidgee
Although not a true Bowie knife due to the lack of a finger guard, this blade was made in the theme of a Bowie blade. The blade is made from 3/16” 1095 high carbon steel and feature a saber grind with the false edge toward the spine tip. The flats and bevels have been hand sanded to 440 grit for a sheen surface, while the clip point false edge has been sanded and buffed to a mirror shine.
The handle is made from Australian Quilted Gidgee. It is a very hard wood on par with American Ironwood and does not need stabilization. The handle is fixed with 6 small brass pins. The handle has also been sanded to 1500 grit then buffed to a nice shine.
The sheath is stacked leather and features a fold over strap to secure the knife in place. The sheath was dyed with Saddle Tan and Dark brown to mimic the grain pattern in the Quilted Gidgee.
